Align Your Spine

Susan’s class has begun a regular weekly Saturday schedule.


Saturday morning class size is limited to 6. You must sign-up and pay online before attending class. Due to the new procedures we have instituted due to Covid-19 walk-ins are not possible. 

Please scroll to the bottom to sign-up and pay for class at least 24 hours prior.  For those of you who purchased a class card: you will still need to sign up 24 hours prior for each class. Obviously don’t follow through to the payment segment, instead send a brief message to me in the comments section.

How can I benefit from a yoga class?

Alignment is an aspect of homeostasis. When joints are stacked and muscles have little to do with maintaining joint alignment, in other words muscles are as relaxed as possible. This is the case in standing as well as seated poses.

Muscle are recruited when we want to move, that is the simple explanation: it becomes more complicated when our muscles become strained and weakened as a result of habitual misalignment.  We must then peel the human onion and return the body to its original relaxed state, devoid of habits such as sitting with our lumbar spine pushed into the chair back which destabilizes it, or standing with our knees hyper-extended, just to name 2 habits influenced by our modern culture.

Align Your Spine is a 90 minute Hatha Flow Yoga class to warm the body. I sequence fewer asymmetrical poses that may strain an already weakened sacrum and lumbar spine.

The flow is slower, the result is a real connection with your body via sensation. Once the reconnect occurs, you the practitioner investigate the sensation. You will usually discover what movements are creating misalignment and pain.

This is not a gentle class and it is advised that experienced practitioners attend: at least a level 2 meaning that you have been practicing for a minimum of 2 years.
