Devotion to Meditation Series
With David M. Kay
Certified Meditation Teacher
The gifts of a sustained sitting meditation practice include inner calm, relief from stress, improved mood, increased patience, improved memory, strengthened immune system, improved relationships, more kindness and compassion and connection with one’s higher self. There are many styles and techniques of meditation, and here you will learn a classical technique of concentration that has been practiced for thousands of years in India. In this 3 part series you will gain the skills to create your own deep, devoted meditation practice and realize the life opening benefits of daily meditation. All three sessions include instruction, Q & A, and guided meditation.
Session 1 introduces sitting meditation and clears up the myths and misconceptions that surround this ancient practice. You will discover your best sitting position for deep, sustained meditation, and begin to find and open the connection between your mind and your breath.
Session 2 covers the full technique from start to finish including preparatory energy control (pranayama). Strategies for establishing a personal home practice and devotion to your practice are presented and discussed.
Session 3 moves beyond the technique of meditation to discover the true peace that is available in deep meditation. You move beyond your mind to engage your heart, where true peace resides. Simple practices to invite peace into your daily life outside of sitting meditation are offered.
Note the sessions are progressive in nature. Please check that all three dates work for you prior to registration.
